New Podcast Launched For and About African American Social Entrepreneurs

Kimberly Holmes, host and founder of The Nonprofit Showcase Podcast

Nationwide — Kimberly Holmes, founder of Black America Cares, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to serving individuals and families that are less fortunate, has launched The Nonprofit Showcase Podcast – which provides a platform for African American social entrepreneurs all over the country.

When Kimberly first launched her nonprofit, she was often contacted by people asking about services that she did not provide.  However, instead of turning people away, Holmes would help them look for other programs that could help. As a result, she discovered that there are hundreds of nonprofits out there that offer different types of assistance that many people need.

She recalls, “I was shocked to find out about so many organizations that offered services like free furniture, baby diapers, formula and car seats, assistance for seniors, help with rent, youth in foster care, and more. I figured if I wasn’t aware of these organizations, I knew other people weren’t aware either, so I needed to find a way to get this information out there.”

And that’s how she came up with the idea for The Nonprofit Showcase Podcast. It’s a one-stop resource for sharing and learning about organizations that serve our communities!

The Nonprofit Showcase Podcast is a win-win for both the organizations that are featured on the podcast as well as the community. The nonprofit benefits because it gives them an opportunity to share who they are, where they are, and how their services are impacting the community. It’s also a chance for them to let the public know how they can help, whether it be through donations or volunteering.

The community benefits because they’re learning about services that can help them improve the quality of their lives. They will discover in detail, what organizations are doing and how they can contact them. Hearing the leaders and founders describe how and why they started their nonprofit organization helps add more meaning to what these programs are all about. Kimberly comments, “When you hear the passion behind their mission, it adds a sense of assurance and trust. Our goal is to help each other provide the solution to someone’s problem.”

She adds, “The current climate we’re in has left many in our communities feeling helpless and hopeless. One of the reasons I started Black America Cares is to help people know they’re not alone, and that someone cares. It’s also why I started the podcast. There are many grassroots organizations that’s truly making a huge difference in the lives of many people. However, these nonprofits can’t be successful without the support of the communities they serve.”

The Nonprofit Showcase Podcast adds a new episode weekly and can be heard on BlackAmericaCares.org and also Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts and all other podcast platforms.
