Los Angeles, CA — In honor of Black Music Month, RLJ Entertainment’s Urban Movie Channel (UMC) presents a month long of tributes and new titles to be added on Fridays throughout June. Join UMC as it pays tribute to music legends, with a special focus on old school hip hop. Kicking off the month is the premiere of Welcome to Blakroc, from hip hop pioneer and producer Damon Dash. The music/performance documentary focuses on the making of the album of the same name by the Rock/Blues duo, The Black Keys, and features guest appearances from several hip hop acts, including Mos Def, Nicole Wray, Pharoahe Monch, Billy Danze of M.O.P., Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, Jim Jones, NOE of ByrdGang, Raekwon, RZA and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard of Wu-Tang Clan. A follow-up documentary, Blakroc 2, will debut on UMC later in 2016.
