Nationwide — Nick Cannon, the 44-year-old TV host, actor, and musician, recently opened up about living with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). The host of The Masked Singer shared how he manages the condition while balancing a busy life and being a father of 12.
Instead of seeing his diagnosis as something negative, Nick said he sees it as an opportunity for growth.
“I feel like there’s so many labels out there, but it’s like, to be able to embrace it and say, ‘Look, I’m healing. I need help. Show me.’ I just embrace mental health and therapy in such a strong way,” he said. “To be able to say I’m an example for others, but also be healing during the self-process works too.”
Nick first spoke about his NPD diagnosis on his Counsel Culture podcast with Dr. Cheyenne Bryant. He mentioned that understanding his condition helped him take control of it.
“I’ve taken all the power away from the term narcissism ’cause I’ve researched it and I understand it,” said Nick on the episode. “Call me whatever you want… now if I didn’t know what it was, then I have issue with it.”
Moreover, Nick opened up about balancing holiday visits to his 12 children. Despite the challenges, he hopes to make time for all his kids.
