Nationwide — Actress Essence Atkins, now 52 years old, has revealed her secret to looking ageless. During a recent interview, she also shared that she has been abstaining from sex for the past four years, and it has led her to a more peaceful life.
Atkins, who said she’s “super single,” believes her choice to remain celibate is a step toward a greater purpose. She said, “I believe there’s honor in what I’m doing, and my obedience is going to yield a great harvest.”
“I have tremendous clarity,” she continued. “When I meet someone, I can really assess and listen with much better ears because I’m not distracted by the possibility [of physical intimacy].”
Moreover, Atkins encouraged young women to value themselves and focus on non-physical connections in relationships.
She comments, “It’s important that we value ourselves and make sure that others are valuing us. Can you spend time with someone without physical companionship? Do they make you laugh? Are they joyful? Are they purposed? Are they responsible? Are they intentional? Learn that. Give yourself time and space to learn that.”
Atkins was previously married to Jaime Mendez from 2009 to 2016. They have one child together.
