Michael Strahan Reportedly to Quit “Good Morning America” When His $20M Contract Ends

Michael Strahan in Good Morning America

Nationwide — TV host Michael Strahan, a former NFL player and Fox NFL Sunday analyst, is reportedly planning to leave Good Morning America when his $20 million contract expires later this year. According to reports, he wants to prioritize his family, especially after his daughter Isabella’s recent health battle.

In October 2023, Strahan took a break from the show as his daughter underwent multiple surgeries following a brain tumor removal. Sources say this experience shifted his focus, making him reconsider his career commitments.

According to Radar Online, an insider claimed that the 52-year-old host might leave the show by this summer, saying, “He’s had enough.”

However, other sources at ABC dismissed this, saying, “There’s no truth that I’m aware of that about this at this current juncture. That piece is strictly speculative rumor mill stuff. If you just read it, it just sounds like someone with a very specific point of view and a very specific desire to make things suddenly complicated for GMA.”

Strahan is among ABC’s highest-paid personalities, earning over $20 million annually. With recent layoffs at ABC News, tension has reportedly grown among staff, particularly toward Good Morning America hosts like Strahan, as producers take on heavier workloads.

Moreover, Strahan will be hosting The $100,000 Pyramid for its eighth season, which premieres on March 9th on ABC.
