Nationwide — Rapper MC Lyte is grieving the death of her mother, Constance Moorer, who passed away after battling cancer. She shared a heartfelt tribute online, thanking supporters and remembering her mother’s strength, faith, and spirit.
According to Ice Cream Convos, MC Lyte said that Constance was diagnosed with cancer in 2022. She went through surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation with hopes of recovery. Despite the toll, her mother stayed positive and full of faith each day.
“My mom woke up every day with the greatest attitude and with her heart full of a song for the Lord,” Lyte wrote in an Instagram post. “Anyone who came into contact with her felt her light and her beautiful energy. That smile. A true joy.”
The rapper called this the hardest time of her life, but also said she feels thankful for the years they had together. Her mother lived to see 54 years of her daughter’s life — something MC Lyte sees as a blessing, since her mom lost her own mother at age 10.
“Words cannot express how heavy my heart sits, but I rest in the knowingness that she is now free, out of pain and with our Lord Jesus Christ,” she added.
She ended her message by asking fans for continued prayers and support as she copes with the loss.
