Former Black Doctor Convicted for Performing Genital Exams at His Home Without a License

Rudel Saunders

Nationwide — Rudel Saunders, a former African American doctor from Cincinnati, Ohio, was found guilty of illegally practicing medicine after luring men to his apartment for genital ultrasounds. Authorities said he falsely claimed the exams were required for a medical training program.

According to Local 12, prosecutors said Saunders carried out the ultrasounds in his bedroom without proper authorization or licensed supervision. The sessions were not connected to any legitimate clinical training.

Investigators discovered Saunders only held a training license, which did not permit him to perform medical procedures independently. The state medical board confirmed his claim that completing mandatory ultrasound hours was untrue.

According to complaints, Saunders persuaded the men to take part by telling them the exams were part of his medical education. All procedures took place inside his Cincinnati apartment, rather than at a licensed medical facility.

In April, Saunders was acquitted of separate charges of sexual imposition and voyeurism linked to the same allegations. The recent conviction focused solely on his unauthorized medical practice.

He was convicted in a bench trial earlier this week. Sentencing details have not yet been announced.
