Nationwide — Donyelle Jones, who was known for competing on So You Think You Can Dance, has died at 46 after a long fight with breast cancer. She inspired fans with her talent, courage, and unwavering spirit throughout her battle.

Her passing was shared on her official Instagram page, saying, “Today at 8:34am, Donyelle Denise Wilson, transitioned. A wife. A daughter. A sister. A friend. And a warrior who kicked cancer’s a** every single day she was here.”

Jones first shared her diagnosis nearly a decade ago when she learned she had stage 3C breast cancer, according to TMZ. Despite years of treatment, the disease eventually progressed to stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

She rose to fame on Season 2 of So You Think You Can Dance in 2006, finishing third behind Travis Wall and winner Benji Schwimmer. Her performances earned her praise for precision, passion, and grace, making her one of the most memorable contestants of the season.

A week before her death, Jones confirmed she was in hospice. In a heartfelt message, she wrote, “I have done everything possible to extend my time here in this dimension. At this point I have surrendered to whatever God’s will is.”

Following her passing, Schwimmer paid tribute on Instagram, sharing clips of their dances together and reflecting on the bond they shared. He described their partnership as like a marriage, in some ways even closer.
