Nationwide — Rapper Fetty Wap has been released early from federal prison and is now under home confinement. He star was originally sentenced to 6 years for a cocaine conspiracy but will officially finish his sentence later this year.
Fetty Wap, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, was transferred from a federal prison in Minnesota to community confinement in Philadelphia on January 7, 2026, according to CNN. His publicist confirmed he is focused on family, music, and giving back to his community.
In a statement, the 34-year-old thanked supporters, saying, “I want to thank my family, friends, and fans for the love, prayers, and continued support — it truly means everything to me.” He added that he plans to expand programs for at-risk children, including education, tech skills, and vision care initiatives.
The rapper was arrested in New York City in October 2021 on drug trafficking conspiracy charges. He was initially released on bond, but it was revoked in 2022 after prosecutors accused him of violating release conditions, including allegedly showing a gun during a FaceTime call.
Fetty Wap later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine in August 2022. Despite the conviction, the Bureau of Prisons moved him to home confinement, with his official release from federal supervision set for November 8, 2026.
His publicist said he is in good spirits, grounded, and focused on fatherhood and community work. During his time in prison, Fetty Wap reportedly gained clarity on creating long-term opportunities for young people facing challenges.
