Nationwide — Alisha Crins, a 39-year-old former gym teacher from Glocester, Rhode Island, is facing sexual assault charges after sending explicit messages and photos to a student. She admitted to kissing him but denies having full sexual contact.
Crins, who is married, taught physical education at Ponaganset High School. Investigators say she began flirting with a male student while he was in her sophomore year after finding his phone number online, according to the New York Post.
Court documents reveal that Crins sent naked pictures and videos to the teen and kissed him twice. One encounter reportedly occurred in the back of his car, where she straddled him while they kissed. According to the affidavit, she said, “‘I can’t believe I’m going to do this… You can’t tell anybody,” before kissing him for nearly 15 minutes.
Both said they discussed having sex, but never did. Crins admitted to sending explicit images and kissing the student, but claimed their interactions were “never physical.” Messages recovered by investigators showed her complimenting him as a “good kisser” and asking him to wear his sweatshirt or buy her gifts.
Weeks later, she invited him over again and continued sexual contact while kissing in the car. The student provided police with racy photos she sent when he was 17 and nude content after he turned 18. She eventually asked the student to stop messaging her, citing her marriage and position as his teacher.
The student’s complaint prompted Rhode Island State Police to open a criminal investigation. Crins faces two counts of third-degree sexual assault and is scheduled for arraignment on March 18. Ponaganset High School confirmed she is no longer employed in the district.
