Nationwide — Kim Kardashian is suing Ray J over a $6 million dispute tied to a 2023 settlement from their long-running sex tape case. She and Kris Jenner allege he broke a non-disclosure agreement and are now seeking repayment and financial penalties.
The conflict stems from a 2023 agreement that resolved legal issues connected to the 2007 sex tape involving Kim Kardashian and Ray J. The settlement reportedly included a non-disclosure agreement that barred all parties from speaking about the case or its terms. As part of the deal, Kardashian and Jenner agreed to pay Ray J about $6 million in installments, with the final payment set for 2026.
In May 2025, Kardashian and Jenner sent a legal letter accusing Ray J of violating the agreement. They claimed he broke the NDA during livestreams and demanded he return $5 million already paid, plus $1 million each in additional damages for the alleged breaches.
According to Page Six, the dispute escalated after Ray J made public comments in a 2025 livestream, including allegations that the Kardashians were under federal investigation for racketeering. He provided no evidence for the claim. Kardashian and Jenner responded by filing a defamation lawsuit in October 2025, calling the accusations false and denying any such investigation.
Ray J countersued in November 2025, denying defamation and arguing that Kardashian and Jenner also breached the NDA. He pointed to statements made on The Kardashians as alleged evidence. He also repeated claims that the sex tape release was orchestrated, which the Kardashian family has consistently denied in court filings.
A separate legal letter dated October 3 further intensified the dispute. It accused Ray J of materially breaching the settlement again by discussing it during another livestream and revealing its terms publicly.
Kardashian and Jenner’s legal team demanded he repay the $5 million already received and pay an additional $1 million per breach, bringing the total demand to $7 million. The letter also stated that any remaining payment obligations under the 2023 agreement were now considered void.
In a related ruling last month, a court denied Kardashian and Jenner’s attempt to keep parts of the settlement confidential. The judge ruled they did not provide enough evidence that public disclosure would cause harm.
