Biscuit-lovers Can Savor Chef Boots’ Winning Dish on “Beat Bobby Flay” Season 38
Nationwide — Celebrity Chef Melvin “Boots” Johnson, founder of the famous Harlem Biscuit Company restaurant, has officially launched shipping of his signature buttermilk biscuits nationwide, a milestone years in the making. As featured on NBC TODAY, the California native with deep Southern roots opened Harlem Biscuit Company in 2020 as a pivot in his garage that transitioned into opening a storefront at 2308 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. Six years later, biscuit lovers across the country can now order Chef Boots’ beloved, made-from-scratch biscuits online, delivered frozen and ready to bake at home.
Shared Chef Boots, “My grandmother’s cooking is the reason I fell in love with food, and these biscuits are her legacy. Being able to share them with the rest of the country—not just with the folks we deliver to in New York City or who walk through our doors in Harlem—is something I’ve been dreaming about for years. I want everyone to know what it feels like to eat a warm biscuit fresh out of the oven, made with love.”
In 2025, Chef Boots won on Season 38 of Beat Bobby Flay in Episode 8, “Risk It For Biscuit,” by pitting his popular chive cheddar biscuit served with chicken sausage gravy against Chef Flay’s. It was a full-circle moment as Chef Boots had worked under Flay two decades earlier at Mesa Grill New York. As seen on NBC TODAY Show, the victory recipe is one of the options you can order online to your doorstep in a 6-pack.
Customers can choose from three offerings in frozen 6-packs:
• Classic Buttermilk Biscuits: Chef Boots’ Southern grandmother-inspired buttermilk biscuits, $25
• Chive Cheddar Biscuits: a bold, cheesy fan-favorite, $25
• Chive Cheddar Biscuits with Chicken Sausage Gravy: the Beat Bobby Flay winning recipe, $30
All orders are shipped in vacuum-sealed packaging and come with simple 20-minute baking instructions. The nationwide launch is the next chapter in Chef Boots’ mission to bring Southern food that feels like home to as many people as possible, carrying his grandmother’s spirit into kitchens coast to coast.
