Nationwide — When the story of La Lueur Health & Wellness was first publicized, the response was overwhelming. The feature reached more than 139,000 views, generated thousands of reactions, and sparked hundreds of comments from people inspired by a Black husband-and-wife team building something special in their community. However, one question appeared over and over again: “Where are you located?”
At the time, La Lueur Health & Wellness was focused on serving clients locally from its Dallas-area clinic. What started as a vision to provide accessible wellness services quickly became a trusted destination for individuals seeking support on their health journey. But the journey began long before the clinic.
During the pandemic, Family Nurse Practitioner Tammy Marshall and her husband, United States veteran Kelvin Marshall, were serving members of their community from under a tent. With limited resources but an unwavering commitment to helping others, they showed up day after day to provide support, education, and access to wellness services during a time when many people felt forgotten.
What began as a small community effort eventually grew into a trusted clinic, a thriving wellness brand, and now a company serving clients across America.
“Sometimes I have to stop and take it all in,” said Marshall. “There are days I think about where we started, literally serving people under a tent, and now we’re helping clients across the country. It’s all been surreal. Every step of this journey has reminded us of God’s grace, the power of community, and what’s possible when you stay committed to serving people.”
Since that feature, the company has continued to grow. Now, their clinic has expanded its reach beyond Texas and has invested in technology, education, Lady Bird, a 45-foot medical bus, and wellness resources that allow it to connect with clients across the country.
“Our mission has always been bigger than a building,” said Marshall. “We wanted to create a place where people felt seen, supported, and empowered to take control of their wellness.”
The growth comes at a time when many Black Americans continue to face barriers to quality healthcare and wellness resources. Tammy and Kelvin built La Lueur as the answer they wished had always existed. A place where people feel heard, valued, and supported.
As demand increased, the team recognized an opportunity to expand access nationwide. Today, La Lueur offers wellness education, wellness consultations where available, and wellness products designed to support individuals seeking to improve their overall health and quality of life.
What makes the story resonate with so many people is not just the business itself, but the journey behind it.
As a Black-owned, family-owned company, La Lueur Health & Wellness was built through determination, long hours, sacrifice, and a commitment to serving others. The founders balanced entrepreneurship, family life, and patient care while working to create opportunities within their community.
Today, the company continues to focus on wellness, education, and helping individuals make informed decisions about their health. Looking back at the original viral feature, Marshall says she is still humbled by the support.
“We never imagined that our story would reach so many people,” she said. “The encouragement we received reminded us why representation matters and why it’s important to keep showing up and serving with excellence.”
What began as a local success story has evolved into something much larger. A growing wellness brand with a mission to help people across America become happy, healthy, and whole.
