Nationwide — Rapper Boosie Badazz has filed a lawsuit over a failed presidential pardon effort, claiming he paid $600,000 for help securing clemency. The rapper is now seeking to recover part of the money after the alleged agreement failed.
Boosie, whose real name is Torence Hatch, sued Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, accusing them of promising they could help him receive clemency from President Donald Trump. He claims the two men promoted their connections and convinced him they had the ability to move the pardon request forward.
According to TMZ, Boosie entered into an agreement with Wohl and Burkman in late 2025 as he sought relief from his federal conviction and legal issues tied to his firearms case. The rapper says he believed the pair could help secure the pardon through their political contacts.
The lawsuit alleges Boosie paid $600,000 for their services. On New Year’s Day, his attorney reportedly received a call claiming Trump had already signed the pardon and that the White House had not yet made the announcement.
The pardon was never issued, according to the lawsuit. Boosie is now asking for at least $300,000 back, claiming their agreement required half of the payment to be refunded if the pardon was not granted.
Wohl and Burkman have denied the allegations. Burkman said they put significant effort into the pardon request and argued that the refund provision Boosie cited was never part of their agreement.
A White House official also said the two men had no role in the pardon process and that the clemency team had never communicated with them about Boosie’s request.
Although Boosie did not receive a presidential pardon, he later received a sentence of time served in his federal gun case. He has also filed a separate pardon request directly with the White House.
The lawsuit will now determine whether Boosie can recover the money he paid and whether the consultants failed to deliver what they allegedly promised.
