Nationwide — LaToya Malcolm, a former Miss Universe Jamaica contestant and Jamaican entertainer, suddenly died at the age of 35, leaving the Jamaican entertainment and pageant communities mourning her loss. Her cause of death has not been publicly revealed.
According to People, the Miss Universe Jamaica organization announced Malcolm’s passing in an Instagram post on July 18. The organization remembered her as a contestant who proudly represented the pageant in the 2024 competition and shared condolences with her family, friends, and loved ones.
Malcolm competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica pageant before earning the title of Miss Jamaica Bikini International 2024. She was also known as an actress, entertainer, and dance instructor with more than 10 years of experience in Jamaica’s entertainment industry.
Her pageant journey came during a challenging period in her life. Malcolm lost her father in 2024, but she continued training and competing despite the personal loss. After winning the Miss Jamaica Bikini International title, she dedicated the achievement to him in a heartfelt social media tribute.
“My beloved father, Mr. Malcolm, this win was for you. Your one and only daughter continues to make you proud. I know you’re smiling down on me from heaven,” she wrote at the time.
Beyond pageantry, Malcolm used her talents to support others. She worked with the Transition project, an initiative focused on providing adolescents with training and resources to help them pursue new opportunities.
