Nationwide — Alisa Goods, a 63-year-old grandmother from Brooklyn, New York, was visiting Las Vegas when she disappeared earlier this month. Police later found her dead near Harry Reid International Airport and are investigating her final known movements. A grandmother of five, she traveled to Las Vegas to visit a friend. She left the friend’s home to go shopping and stopped at a CVS on August 8th. Her family reported her missing two days later.
According to People, police have since released more information about where she was before her death. Surveillance footage from August 8th showed her near the airport. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the video captured her falling down an embankment before getting back up. Goods then moved out of the camera’s view. Police said the area could not be seen from the street, and the footage showed no further movement. Investigators have not said why she fell or whether another person was involved.
On Aug. 20, a caller alerted police about a deceased woman in a drainage ditch near Wayne Newton Boulevard and the Terminal 1 parking garage. Officers arrived and found the woman, who authorities later identified as Goods. Her body was discovered more than a week after her family reported her missing.
The family also received troubling messages from Goods’ phone after she disappeared. Relatives said someone using the phone asked for help, gas money and Bitcoin. Her niece, Alana Calloway, said the messages did not sound like they came from Goods. The family has not identified who sent them, and police have not publicly linked the messages to her death.
After authorities confirmed her death, her family asked for privacy as investigators worked to determine what happened. Calloway thanked the public and media for helping bring attention to the search. Goods’ daughter, Kristen, also confirmed her death through a GoFundMe fundraiser for funeral and memorial expenses. It has so far raised more than $16,000.
