Ourconic Entertainment film will also stream same-day on JaroGO in the United States, Canada, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa
Nationwide — Black women continue to be disproportionately affected by HIV, while the American South accounts for more than half of all new HIV diagnoses in the United States. Nationally, Black women are diagnosed with HIV at a rate eleven times higher than white women. A new documentary, Beyond the Diagnosis, brings those statistics into human focus by centering three Southern Black women who are living openly, purposefully, and thriving with HIV. Pictured in the accompanying photo are Dominique Grant of Jackson, Mississippi, and Dr. Joyce Turner-Keller and Millicent Foster of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the three women at the heart of the film.
Produced by Ourconic Entertainment, Beyond the Diagnosis will hold its world-premiere screening on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Tara Theatre, Screening Room B, in Atlanta during the Peachtree Village International Film Festival (PVIFF), where the documentary is a 2026 finalist. Distribution partner JaroGO will co-host the theatrical premiere. The film will also launch November 6 on the JaroGO streaming platform through its Advertising Video on Demand (AVOD) model, making it available to viewers in the United States, Canada, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa.
Directed by Meo Kellerman and Rafael Cherry and narrated by producer Santia Bailey, Beyond the Diagnosis follows Grant, Turner-Keller and Foster as they share their experiences with diagnosis, stigma, family, faith, advocacy and the lives they have built beyond HIV. Rather than defining the women by their diagnoses, the documentary focuses on their families, careers, ministries, friendships, community work, and plans for the future.
The film grew out of Ourconic’s work producing Louisiana Can, an HIV awareness campaign with Xavier University of Louisiana CMHDRE. During production of the campaign, the filmmakers encountered women whose stories extended beyond the scope of a public awareness campaign and saw an opportunity to create a documentary centered on the people living beyond the statistics. “This story chose us,” said Meo Kellerman and Rafael Cherry, Co-Founders of Ourconic, LLC and directors of the film. “We were in the middle of the Louisiana Can campaign when we met women whose lives were bigger than any PSA could hold. Dominique, Dr. Joyce and Millicent decided their diagnosis would not be the last word. Our job was to make sure the world could hear them say it.”
“Beyond the Diagnosis reflects the type of impactful storytelling that aligns with JaroGO’s mission of delivering meaningful independent content to audiences around the world,” said Len Gibson, Chief Content Officer and Co-Founder of JaroGO. “By premiering simultaneously both theatrically and on the JaroGO platform, the film will receive maximum audience exposure while connecting filmmakers, healthcare advocates, industry professionals and viewers across multiple markets.” In addition to being a PVIFF finalist, Beyond the Diagnosis is an Official Selection of the Documentaries Without Borders International Film Festival for Fall 2026. In August 2026, Ourconic, LLC received the 2026 NOLA SHAAD Community Impact Award — Griot (Storytelling & Heritage) from CrescentCare in recognition of its HIV storytelling and advocacy work.
The documentary features cinematography and editing by Kellerman, original music by Jaden Parris, and a closing anthem written by Kellerman and Cherry. The Atlanta premiere will also be connected with an HIV-awareness panel discussion featuring healthcare advocates and members of the filmmaking team.
