Nationwide — Sandy’s Land LLC and founder Sandra Epps proudly announce the return of the annual Detroit Doll Show (Black Art & Doll Show) on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST at the Ford Wellness Center (Samaritan Center Campus), 5555 Conner, Detroit, MI 48213. Founded by author, artist, and lupus survivor Sandra Epps in 2011, the landmark event has grown into the largest Black doll and art showcase in the nation. Under the core motto of “Love the Skin You’re In,” the show celebrates diversity, self-love, history, and cultural representation through an expansive marketplace of doll artists, collectors, vendors, moms, and daughters.
“Dolls are not just playthings, they’re also teaching tools,” says Epps. “Every child should see themselves reflected in their toys, dolls, and books. Representation builds self-esteem and preserves the rich history and culture that define our community.”
In addition to a vibrant array of life-like, fabric, and crocheted dolls, the 2026 event will highlight community education initiatives-including Epps’ ongoing work with the Black Doll Mobile Museum and Sandy’s Land LLC projects. Her largest project to date is building the Butterfly Garden and Black Doll Museum on an acre of land she acquired from the Detroit Land Bank Authority. The project completion date is scheduled for 2028.
Attendees can also look forward to interactive workshops, family-friendly activities, the fan-favorite fashion show, live music, entertainment by Smiley the Hip Hop Clown, Black doll history presentation, doll restoration, legacy award presented to Mark Ruffin, Emmy Award-Winning puppet builder, cultural dollmaker, and founder of Black Dolls Matter.
