“A Purse With a Purpose” Initiative Pays Tribute to Women Veterans

Nationwide — What do you get when you put the leading retail store TJ Maxx, an award-winning nonprofit organization Jackets for Jobs (JFJ), and Michigan women veterans together? You get an initiative called “A Purse with a Purpose”. For the last several years, TJ Maxx and JFJ have partnered to show their appreciation to women veterans by giving hundreds of extravagant purses with a gift card attached.

“We want to let the veterans know how much we appreciate their service to this country,” states Karen Hume, District Manager for TJ Maxx. Alison Vaughn, Founder and CEO of Jackets for Jobs, knows the road ahead for veterans is not an easy one as she states, “As the daughter of a deceased veteran, this project is near and dear to me.”

Jackets for Jobs and TJ Maxx do not only support women veterans but they have taken it a step further and distribute coats to children during the winter season.

TJ Maxx and Jackets for Jobs participated in an event hosted by Michigan Women Veterans Empowerment (www.empowermiwomenvets.com) on Saturday, November 18, 2017. Women veterans, military members, and other organizations gathered for this noteworthy event to raise awareness to support women veterans and their families. It is important to both TJ Maxx and Jacket for Jobs to foster a healthier veteran community while empowering them in their personal lives.
