Black Woman Found Dead is the 13th Body Found in the New England States, Police Fear It’s a Serial Killer

Adriana Suazo

Nationwide — Concerns of a potential serial killer operating in New England have resurfaced following the discovery of a young African American woman’s body in a wooded area of Milton, Massachusetts. The victim, 21-year-old Adriana Suazo, was found around 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, near a residence at 143 Central Avenue, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey. Her body reportedly showed no obvious signs of physical trauma, and the state’s Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause of death.

According to People, Suazo, who is originally from Boston, had no known connections to Milton, leaving her family puzzled about why she was there. According to the Boston Globe, one of her sisters stated that their last contact with her was on May 29, just days before her body was found. Authorities are asking the public for any information about her whereabouts in the week leading up to her death.

Suazo’s death marks the 13th mysterious death in remote or wooded areas across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine since March. The cluster of cases has fueled speculation of a serial killer in the region, especially after the remains of six different people were found in April alone. Among the victims were Paige Fannon, 35, discovered in the Norwalk River, Denise Leary, 59, found in New Haven, and Michele Romano, 56, whose body was recovered five days later.

While public concern has grown, law enforcement agencies have pushed back against the idea of a single suspect connecting the deaths. The Connecticut State Police issued a statement clarifying that their investigations remain separate and that no evidence currently links the cases. They also emphasized that there is “no known threat to the public at this time,” urging residents to avoid jumping to conclusions.

Despite official statements, residents across New England remain on edge, with online forums and community discussions filled with speculation about the pattern of deaths. Meanwhile, Suazo’s family is grappling with their loss. A GoFundMe page created by her sister, Mel Loves, describes Adriana as “a firecracker, full of life, laughter, and fierce love,” and notes that her sudden death has left the family devastated.

The fundraiser has already nearly reached its $11,000 goal to help cover burial costs. Meanwhile, investigators are asking anyone who may have seen Adriana Suazo in the days leading up to June 1 to contact the Massachusetts State Police Tip Line at 781-830-4990. The investigation into her death—and its potential ties to other cases—remains active and ongoing.
