Detroit, MI — Jackets for Jobs proudly partnered with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Gamma Lambda Chapter, at a clothing drive held in honor of Veteran’s Day.

“This initiative to support Veteran’s was a labor of love,” states Alison Vaughn, the daughter of a veteran and founder & CEO of Jackets for Jobs.

Jackets for Jobs and the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity have long been doing the work in the Detroit area that benefit men and women facing tough circumstances and this clothing drive will support men who risked their lives for this country. JFJ was brought into being from a desire to help families transition from welfare to employment.

The donations received were men’s suits to support JFJ men’s division. Alpha Phi Alpha is the first Greek letter fraternity for African American men. The organization continues to carry out its mission to develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for communities.

The APA, with more than 700 active chapters sprinkled over the globe, embraces the idea of creating opportunities for boys and young men of color. The more society as a whole participates in solving issues that plaque our veterans, the more sustainable the nation. We have been observing the work of Ms. Vaughn for several years and wanted to support her efforts to be of service to others,” said APA Detroit president Kamau C. Marable. The organization has been supported and applauded by ABC’s The View, NBC’s Today Show, and Oprah’s O Magazine. The organization has also rung the closing bell on NASDAQ twice. JFJ is funded by Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation and is charitable arm of TJ Maxx. For more information, visit www.jacketsforjobs.org.
