Nationwide — Beyoncé is donating $200,000 to help Indiana communities recover from severe flooding that left more than 1,000 people without homes. The funds, provided through her BeyGOOD Foundation, will support two organizations helping residents with immediate relief and recovery efforts. The donation was announced on social media Monday, Aug. 31. According to People, the foundation said the funds will go to City Life Center and Angel by Nature, which have been working directly with people in some of the hardest-hit areas. Their efforts include helping families who lost homes and dealing with damage to local infrastructure.
The donation will help the organizations provide food, household supplies, and other essential items. Gary is among the Indiana communities expected to receive assistance as local groups work to address the most urgent needs. The funding will support both immediate relief and ongoing recovery for residents affected by the disaster.
The flooding came after a derecho moved through northern Indiana. A derecho is a widespread, long-lasting windstorm associated with a fast-moving line of thunderstorms. The storm brought powerful winds, caused widespread power outages, and damaged homes and other property. It also led to severe flooding and major infrastructure damage. President Donald Trump declared the situation a major disaster on Aug. 25, making additional federal assistance available to affected areas.
The Indiana donation follows another major relief effort from the singer. She previously pledged $1 million to support victims of a powerful earthquake in Colombia. The latest contribution comes as she continues balancing her music career with public appearances. In July, she surprised fans with “Morning Dew (Donk),” a previously unreleased song released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her 2006 album B’Day. She later released a remix featuring Jay-Z. That same month, she joined her husband onstage during his 30th anniversary concert series in New York and performed “Can’t Knock the Hustle.”
Her latest album, 2024’s Cowboy Carter, was followed by a tour of the same name and featured appearances by Dolly Parton on “Dolly P” and “Tyrant.” After Parton’s death on Aug. 25, Beyoncé paid tribute to the country music icon on her official website, praising her talent, generosity, and influence. Now, through the BeyGOOD donation, the singer is helping Indiana residents get access to basic supplies as they begin rebuilding after the devastating floods.
