— Denzel Washington Applauds Brett Johnson for Supporting His Hometown Boys & Girls Club —
Bethesda, MD — Brett Johnson, CEO of the Brett Johnson Collection, LLC, (BJC) today announced a donation of 100 pairs of athletic footwear from his menswear fashion line to young men participating in the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon. Brett Johnson is committed to giving back to the community and is making the donation to encourage the youth to continue to strive for success as they enter college in the fall.
“I am really proud of my son Brett for following his passion to create a successful clothing brand and athletic wear,” said Robert L. Johnson, founder of The RLJ Companies and Brett Johnson’s father. “His desire to give back to the community and to encourage young men that hard work and perseverance are the building blocks to success. As a young man, Brett realizes the importance of philanthropy and today’s donation of 100 shoes is the first step to his future involvement in giving back,” he concluded.
“I have known Brett Johnson and his father, Bob Johnson, for a number of years, and I am proud of him and the company he has created,” said actor Denzel Washington, National Spokesperson of Boys & Girls Club of America, who spent his formative years at the Boys and Girls Club of Mt. Vernon. “Brett has unselfishly decided to give back and have a valuable impact in the lives of young men. I share a personal connection with the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon and know Brett’s gift will inspire as well as ignite the passion for creativity in each of the Club’s young male participants.”
“By way of today’s announcement, Brett Johnson is making a local impact,” said Frank Sanchez, National Vice President of the Boys & Girls Club of America. “As the designer and architect of a successful brand, Brett is a perfect example of how we should all, regardless of our occupation, inspire our kids to strive for more. Brett is an example that many designers as well as companies should follow.”
“Recognizing the 100 young men who participate in programs at our specific club is truly significant and Brett and his Brett Johnson Collection team should be commended,” added Lowes Moore, Executive Director, Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club. “As administrators, we often seek new and creative ways that will inspire our boys and girls to fully realize their potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. It’s our mission.”
