Nationwide — Nurse Ebony Shene’ is the founder and CEO of Scott School of Careers, a Black-owned allied healthcare school that teaches students the basics of nursing through its Certified Nursing Assistant program but also offers other courses such as Practical Nursing, Phlebotomy, Sterile Technician, and Pharmacy Technician.
Coining the phrase “The woman who loved her profession so much she branded it,” Ebony started an apparel line called “My Nurse” for current and aspiring nurses that has been featured on WCIU, “The Jam” by The LOOK Chicago, Inspiration 1390 “the AC Green show, One the Scene with Rachel J and Maubra Foster and iHeart Radio’s Millen Twins Highlights Movement.
Ebony is a 2021 awardee of the Illinois Nurses Foundation 40 under 40 award for her leadership and accomplishments thus far in her career. Featured countless times in Voyage ATL, she was most recently featured on NPR’s WBEZ 91.5 FM Reset with Sasha-Ann Simons: Chicago Innovators Series.
She is the chairperson of the Black Nurses Matter Network, and is a part of the Chicago Chapter Black Nurses Association, Chief Organizer for The Chicago Nurse Expo. As she leads the charge at Scott School of Careers, she is motivated and excited more now than ever about increasing the supply of Black and brown nurses.
