Nationwide — Savannah James, the wife of NBA star LeBron James, defended her husband after critics reacted to his decision to leave the Los Angeles Lakers. She addressed the constant attention and negativity surrounding his career during her podcast.
LeBron’s future became one of basketball’s biggest talking points after he informed the Lakers that he would not return to the team. The move quickly brought attention from fans and analysts who have followed and criticized his career decisions for years.
Savannah spoke about the criticism LeBron has faced throughout his NBA career during the July 7 episode of her Everybody’s Crazy podcast. She rarely comments on the public reactions surrounding her husband, but she shared her thoughts on how often people criticize him.
According to the New York Post, Savannah spoke during the episode after her co-host, April McDaniel, talked about how social media often turns successful people into targets.
McDaniel said people sometimes build others up only to tear them down later. Savannah agreed and said criticism of LeBron has reached another level because some people have made careers out of discussing him.
“It’s crazy,” Savannah said. “People have definitely made careers out of talking about [LeBron]. Like… [critics having] a subjective opinion about what everybody thinks is the best thing. But to be on the other side of it, it’s like, ‘No, it’s not.’ They make careers out of that.”
Although Savannah did not directly mention LeBron’s Lakers departure, her comments came as fans and analysts continued debating his latest career decision. LeBron has faced criticism throughout his career, but he has continued to focus on his game despite outside opinions.
