Mom Arrested For Attacking Principal When School Called Her About Daughter’s Fight

Mariah Hector

Nationwide — Mariah Hector, a 33-year-old mother from Charlotte, North Carolina, is accused of attacking two school officials after being called to her daughter’s middle school over a fight. She was arrested and charged with assault and trespassing.

According to WLBT, Hector went to Randolph Middle School on May 5 after her daughter called to say she had been in a fight. While speaking with staff, Hector reportedly became aggressive and was asked to leave the building.

Instead, she allegedly forced her way past an employee, shoved Principal Jennifer Schroeder into a wall, and then grabbed Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Dean by the neck. Dean had difficulty breathing and showed visible injuries but remained conscious.

The school was placed on lockdown before police arrived and took Hector into custody. She was later charged with assaulting a school employee and second-degree trespassing, then released on bond.

Two weeks later, on May 20, Principal Schroeder was suspended with pay. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools notified families that she would be “away from campus” but did not say whether her absence is connected to the incident, citing personnel privacy.
