Nationwide — Michael Crowley, a 29-year-old African American man from DeKalb County, Georgia, was charged with murder after allegedly shooting his uncle, 48-year-old Roderick Crowley, during an argument over a honey bun.
Crowley got upset when he found out that his uncle had eaten his honey bun from the refrigerator. A witness told Michael to calm down and leave the house. Instead, he returned shortly after and opened fire.
Police say Michael shot Roderick four times in the chest and arms. He died at the scene before help could arrive.
After the shooting, Michael called 911 himself and admitted to the shooting. He also told the dispatcher he was hiding in the woods nearby. A police dog later located the gun used in the shooting.
The incident happened around 11:20 a.m. at a home on Loveless Drive in the Ellenwood community. Police responded with at least six patrol cars.
Michael was arrested and charged with malice murder. Court records show he was released on bond and waived his right to an initial hearing. Authorities have not shared further information about his release or upcoming court dates.
