Mo’Nique Reveals Why She’ll Never Stop Going After Tyler Perry and Oprah

Mo'Nique feud with Tyler Perry and Oprah

Nationwide — Mo’Nique says she will never stop calling out Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey until they publicly take responsibility for what she claims was damage to her career and reputation. The comedian and actress believes both owe her an open apology after years of silence.

Now 57, Mo’Nique has spoken out on two recent podcasts, 85 South Show and Outlaws With TS Madison, renewing her demand for a public conversation about her fallout with Perry and Winfrey. She insists she won’t back down until they take accountability, saying, “Until he fixes it, I will not stop, because that’s how the monster is created.”

According to Vibe, her feud with the two dates back to 2009, after her Oscar-winning role in Precious, co-produced by Oprah and Perry. Mo’Nique said she declined to do unpaid international press for the film, which led to her being labeled “difficult to work with.” She claims Perry spread that narrative while Oprah stayed silent, causing lasting damage to her career.

Mo’Nique believes the issue reflects a larger problem in Hollywood, where Black women are often criticized for standing up for themselves while men are quickly forgiven. “Y’all messed with my livelihood, which messes with my family,” she said, adding that her fight is also for others who have faced similar treatment.

During her talk with TS Madison, Mo’Nique accused Perry of having a “God complex” and said he needs to publicly correct the lie that hurt her. “You publicly shamed me, so now you have to publicly fix it,” she said. She compared the situation to her reconciliation with director Lee Daniels in 2022, who apologized to her in public after years of tension.

She also claimed Perry’s actions cost her “millions, and millions, and millions of dollars.” Although she acknowledged his generosity toward others, she said it doesn’t erase what he did. “You know what you did to a Black woman named Mo’Nique,” she said.

Even as she focuses on personal healing, including reconciling with her son and improving her health, Mo’Nique insists she won’t stay silent. “Forgiveness doesn’t mean silence,” she said. “My knees don’t buckle.”

Clips from her interviews have gone viral, sparking heated debates under the hashtag #MoNiqueSpeaks. Supporters praised her courage, while others urged her to move on. Still, Mo’Nique remains firm — she won’t stop until Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey publicly make things right.
