Alabama Mom Got on School Bus, Beat Up 11-Year-Old Who ‘Bullied’ Her Child

Nannatt Waldrop

Nationwide — Nannatt Waldrop, a 37-year old mother from Jefferson County, Alabama, is facing charges after boarding a school bus and beating up an 11-year old child who allegedly was bullying her child.

Waldrop reportedly got on the bus around 7 a.m. and “confronted an 11-year-old student whom Waldrop suspected of bullying her child,” authorities said, according to NBC News.

The incident was captured on the school bus surveillance camera and shared on social media.

Deputies responded to the scene for a report of an assault. Waldrop was arrested on charges of third-degree assault, trespassing on a school bus, and disorderly conduct, jail records show. She was released on bond amounting to $10,500 a few hours since she was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Dr. Walter Gonsoulin said in a statement about the incident, “We are aware of the video circulating on social media of a fight that occurred on one of our school buses Tuesday morning. I want to be very clear: This type of behavior is unacceptable, and it will not be tolerated.”

He said that adults who are not school employees are prohibited on school buses and added that the district is also doing a review of what led up to the altercation.

“While this is now a law enforcement matter, let me just say what I saw on that video deeply disturbs me,” Gonsoulin said. “At no point is any type of violence acceptable, especially violence against students. We have been and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement.”
