Nationwide — NBA star Anthony Edwards has been ordered to pay $14,000 a month in child support to Alexandria Desroches for their son, Amir. The ruling comes after he acknowledged in court that he has never met the child in person and is not seeking parenting time. Amir was born in 2023, and court documents say Edwards admitted under oath that he has never had an in-person meeting with his son. Desroches reported earning about $1,016 a month. She also told the court that she hopes to finish college so she can improve her ability to support their child.
According to TMZ, the judge based the monthly payment largely on Edwards’ reported income of nearly $4.8 million. The standard child support amount would have been around $3,200 per month. However, Desroches requested a higher payment, and the court determined that the standard figure did not fully account for Edwards’ financial circumstances.
The court also considered Edwards’ reported spending when reviewing his finances. The documents state that he has enough income to spend about $31,000 each month on food, $70,000 on entertainment, and $30,000 on vacations. In addition to the monthly payments, Edwards must maintain a life insurance policy worth about $2.6 million. Desroches will be the primary beneficiary under the order. He must also pay more than $21,000 toward her legal fees.
The new order follows another child support case involving Edwards and Ayesha Howard, the mother of his daughter. In July, a Georgia judge ordered him to pay $3,222 a month in that case. Howard filed her child support case in California, while Edwards filed in Georgia and argued that she had no connection to California. He also claimed that she chose California because she wanted a larger child support award.
The Georgia judge eventually ruled that the case would be handled in Georgia. Court records show Edwards began paying support in January 2025, starting with a $20,000 payment. He then paid $5,000 each month through the trial, bringing his total payments to $110,000 at the time of the report. Edwards signed a five-year, $200 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2023, giving the 25-year-old NBA player a substantial income that factored into the court’s support calculations.
