Rapper Ma$e Says, “I’m Done With the Church” — Already Working on a New Album Due Out This October

Rapper Mase

Harlem, NY — 36-year old Mason Betha, better known as Ma$e, has reportedly cut all ties with the church and is now back involved with rap music. TMZ reports that his church and marriage have both collapsed.

Ma$e, who had a very successful rap career in the 1990’s on P. Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment label, left the music industry back in 1999 to start his once infamous El Elyon International Church. He and his wife, Twyla Betha, ran the church for many years and amassed a large following in both Atlanta, GA and Phoenix, AZ.

But 5 years later, in 2004, Ma$e made an announcement that he was returning to rap music. He released an album called “Welcome Back” which went on to sell 500,000 copies. He then quietly disappeared again for what has now been 10 years.

Fast forward to the year 2014, and the rapper is back again for another bout in the music game. BET reports that his new album will feature Kanye West, Rick Ross and Diddy, and will likely be released this October.

Regarding his divorce, it is already final and he shares custody of his two children with his ex-wife. He was also ordered to pay $6,000 a month in spousal and child support.

Ironically, the two once authored a series of books on how to make marriage life work.
