Rapper Tory Lanez Stabbed in Prison, Rushed to a Hospital to Receive Treatment

Nationwide — Rapper Tory Lanez, currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion, was stabbed in the prison yard at California Correctional Institution (CCI) in Tehachapi early Monday morning. Officials from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) confirmed that the 32-year-old Canadian performer, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to a civilian hospital in Bakersfield for further treatment. His condition has not been officially disclosed, but sources say the injuries are non-life-threatening.

According to TMZ, the stabbing occurred around 7:20 a.m., prompting an immediate response from prison staff, who administered first aid while calling 911. CDCR representatives said an investigation into the incident has been launched by both CCI authorities and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office. The motivation behind the attack remains unknown at this time, but it marks a troubling episode for the incarcerated artist, who had recently posted an image on social media showing himself looking physically fit behind bars and teasing the release of new music.

Tory Lanez was convicted in December 2022 for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion outside a Hollywood Hills party hosted by reality TV star Kylie Jenner. The incident made international headlines and resulted in Lanez being found guilty on three felony counts: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Prosecutors argued that following the shooting, Lanez engaged in a prolonged campaign of harassment and intimidation against Megan, whose legal name is Megan Pete. The artist accused him of using bloggers and online influencers to publicly smear and cyberstalk her in the years leading up to and following the trial. That legal battle continues, even as Lanez serves his sentence.

While prison officials have not confirmed whether the attack on Lanez was random or targeted, the event adds a new layer of controversy and danger to his incarceration. Inmates at CCI Tehachapi are known to come from various backgrounds, and the institution has a history of violent altercations.

Lanez’s legal team has not released a statement regarding the stabbing. As of now, the rapper remains hospitalized under observation, and further details about his recovery or potential charges against the attacker are still pending.
