Nationwide — Reba Wilson, a 45-year-old woman from Indianapolis, Indiana, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after shooting at a dryer repairman over a $70 fee. She pleaded guilty to firearm possession and intimidation charges following the March 2024 incident.
The incident happened on March 18, 2024, when she called a repairman to her home on Payton Avenue to fix a dryer that was not heating properly. According to police, the situation escalated after the repairman explained his $70 house call fee.
According to Fox59, police said Wilson refused to pay and became involved in an argument with the repairman. The man told police he decided to leave the home, but she allegedly blocked the doorway while holding a gun.
The repairman said he tried to escape through another exit and heard Wilson threaten him. As he ran from the home, he claimed Wilson fired a shot from a black handgun with a silver slide and yelled, “I’m going to pop a cap in your a**.”
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the home on Payton Avenue on March 18, 2024, after reports of gunfire. Investigators later found a shell casing near a broken dryer door and recovered a Smith & Wesson handgun hidden under a couch inside the home.
Police arrested Wilson, who declined to answer questions about the incident at that time. Authorities later found that she was prohibited from owning a firearm because of a 2008 felony escape conviction.
Wilson pleaded guilty to unlawful firearm possession and intimidation charges. Prosecutors dismissed additional charges, including criminal confinement, criminal recklessness, and pointing a firearm.
She was sentenced to 10 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
