Black Non-Profit Founder Celebrates 10 Years of Empowering Over 200K Underserved Women

Sharise L. Erby, founder and CEO of PWEN

Nationwide — Sharise L. Erby, MHA, founder and CEO of Phenomenal Woman Empowerment Network (PWEN), is honored to celebrate her organization’s 10th anniversary of serving underserved women in the Phoenix community and throughout the nation! The celebration will culminate in Phoenix, Arizona, May 14-15, 2022, with the 10th annual Phenomenal Woman Empowerment Experience.

PWEN is an IRS-designated 501(c)3 charitable organization that truly provides underserved women with the access to resources needed to overcome poverty, gender pay gaps, and inadequate educational support. In response to the unmet needs of thousands of women, the organization offers affordable and often free personal and professional development training to help women enter a space of wholeness.

The aim of personal and professional development is to help women manage their own learning and growth throughout their professional and personal journeys. As PWEN looks to the next 10 years, they hope to make a big impact and empower, encourage, equip, and elevate one billion women globally.

One way they will do that is through PWEN’s Next Level Empowerment & Development (NLEAD) Academy, its strongest program offering life coaching, entrepreneurship & business, leadership mastery, and customer service skills certifications. The organization has been able to subsidize 90% of the enrollment fees because of their partners, grants, and generous donors.

PWEN was founded by Sharise L. Erby, MHA and over the years has become a premier organization focused on the personal, professional, and spiritual development and advancement of women. “PWEN is where women come to grow and make an impact,” says Erby. “PWEN’s heart is to empower, encourage, equip, and elevate women by meeting them right where they are and becoming a catalyst to help them reach their next level of success.”

And PWEN has not failed to meet its standards. As of December 2021, the organization has empowered over 257,780 women, helped 230 women and a few men start businesses, given out $98,250 in scholarships & awards, provided mentoring & training through the Carrie J. Scholarship Program, and has eight chapters nationally, two internationally, and hosted 155 in-person events, and over 130 virtual events.

This year’s empowerment experience theme is “Breaking Barriers, Shattering the Status Quo, and Building Legacy. The empowerment experience will feature keynote speakers, world-renowned speaker, and author, Dr. Eric Thomas, and Katria Bell, Senior Pastor at Ignite Church in Tulsa, OK, and a black-tie gala.
