Award-Winning Black Author Teams Up With Daughter to Release New Children’s Book Series Based on Her Life

Nationwide — Award-winning urban fantasy author S.L. Jackson is back, but this time he’s accompanied by his adolescent daughter, Shelby Lea. The father-daughter author duo has collaborated to release the brand-new children’s series called The Adventures of Shelby Sunshine.

The first installment is entitled The Bestest Family Vacation, and the series is based on Shelby’s life as a young girl that lives in an imaginary reality world. The storyline takes readers on her personal life’s journey from family vacations to starting school, and everything in between she can imagine. It is a great new series for kids to latch on to as it chronicles life through her fun-loving innocent eyes.

Jackson comments, “The idea for the series came from Shelby seeing that I was always writing. Once she saw what I was doing with the ‘Animal Instincts: The Urban Jungle’ franchise, she wanted to write books also. She told me she had stories to tell about her life, so she tells me the stories and then we write them together.”

Upon its June 2021 release, The Adventures of Shelby Sunshine: The Bestest Family Vacation became an instant bestseller debuting at number 9 in the category of “Children’s Alligator & Crocodile books” and number 51 in “Early Childhood Education”.
