Woman Makes History, Launches First Black-Owned Coffee Brand in Elkridge, Maryland

Teresa Meade, founder of Jacq and Joe's Coffee

Nationwide — Teresa Meade, the founder and CEO of Jacq & Joe’s Coffee, was not always the owner of a coffee brand. As a veteran who currently resides in Howard County, Maryland, she was inspired to launch her brand in July 2020 after realizing that she needed to refocus her energy after her mother had passed.

Grief-stricken, she went to bed, woke up the next day, and created the name Jacq & Joe’s Coffee, which is a combination of the names of her late mother and deceased grandfather.

Though her brand is primarily online-based, customers can feel the passion that Teresa has for her coffee business and the love that she has for her customers whether she is having a pop-up shop or posting on her Instagram account.

Her goal for Jacq & Joe’s Coffee is to promote positivity through coffee one cup at a time. In the future, Teresa plans on incorporating coffee sample-gift packages into her brand. She also plans to host coffee tastings and pop-up shops locally and nationally until she finds a location for her first brick and mortar.
