Tiffany Haddish Didn’t Get Nominated For a Golden Globe — and Jada Pinkett-Smith is Not Happy About It!

Tiffany Haddish and Jada Pinkett Smith

Nationwide — The 2018 Golden Globe nominations have been announced, and as usual there are some very talented minority actors who aren’t on the list. One of those is the hilarious comedian/actress Tiffany Haddish who starred in this year’s hit film Girls Trip.

After the snub, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, who co-starred in the film with Haddish and Queen Latifah publicly voiced her opinion about it.

She orginally tweeted:

Then she changed her mind:

Then she explained further:

The truth is that Jada is right. Girls Trip was the first comedy film of the year to pass the $100 million mark at the box office. Even more, it was the first film ever to do so that was produced, written and directed by African-Americans – and featured an all-Black cast.

But the list of Golden Globe nominations did include a few Black actors including: Denzel Washington for his performance in Roman J. Israel, Esq., Daniel Kaluuya for his role in Get Out, Octavia Spencer for her role in The Shape of Water, and Mary J. Blige for her role in Mudbound.

Notably, not one Hispanic or Native American actor or actress was nominated. And only one Asian actress was nominated, and that was Hong Chau for her role in Downsizing.
