Nationwide — Marcel Johnson, a 32-year-old African American father of five and TikTok star, has died following a battle with stage four stomach cancer. His wife, Taylor, announced his death on November 2, sharing the news with followers who had kept up with his cancer journey through social media for more than a year. He was diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer in August 2025, according to People. He regularly shared updates about his condition on TikTok and Instagram. He posted videos of his chemotherapy sessions, hospital visits, and other medical procedures, giving followers a closer look at his experience with the disease.
After undergoing 25 rounds of chemotherapy, he announced in September 2026 that he could no longer continue treatment because he was too weak. He also revealed that hospice care had been reaching out to discuss his options, as doctors had no further treatments available. Still, he hoped to travel to City of Hope Medical Center in California for another appointment if his condition allowed. On October 14, he shared a video of himself boarding a private plane for the trip. Ten days later, he posted an update showing him leaving the hospital in a wheelchair. He said he had received some answers he needed and would return home to see how much longer he could hold on.
Taylor had shared an Instagram video on November 2 revealing that her husband had decided to enter hospice care. She later announced that he died at 4:45 p.m. after spending his final hours in considerable pain and exhaustion. In her tribute, she revealed Johnson told her and another family member, Dedric, the previous morning that he was ready to go. He continued fighting throughout the day, allowing his loved ones to spend a little more time with him.
The loss has left Taylor facing life without her husband and raising their five children. In her tribute, she described how difficult it was to accept that he was gone, saying she had expected to wake up and find him still beside her. “I love him with my whole entire being and life will absolutely never ever be the same,” she wrote. His final social media post, shared on October 25, featured a photo of him smiling at home while sitting beside one of his sons.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign initially created to help pay for his cancer treatment is now raising money for his wife and children. It has so far raised over $391,000. Throughout his illness, Johnson continued sharing updates about his condition, allowing followers to witness his experience with stage four stomach cancer from his initial diagnosis to his final days.
