Comedian/ Actor Tracy Morgan in Intensive Care After Serious Car Crash in New Jersey — Truck Driver Arrested and Charged

Tracy Morgan

New Brunswick, NJ — 45-year old Tracy Morgan, one of the co-stars in 30 Rock, is in intensive care after being involved in a serious car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike. He was reportedly traveling back from a performance in Dover, Delaware around 1am when the limo van he was riding in was among six cars that collided into each other.

Police say a tractor-trailer driver, who has since been arrested, failed to notice slow traffic ahead and swerved at the last minute but still ended up smashing into the back of the vehicle that Morgan and several others were riding in. Comedian James McNair, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, died in the crash. Morgan himself, however, survived and was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick. Two other passengers are in critical condition, and another one is reportedly in fair condition. The two drivers were uninjured.

Morgan’s publicist released a statement saying, “His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don’t anticipate much of a change in his condition today.”

This is not the first time Morgan has been admitted into a hospital. In late 2010, he had a kidney transplant.

He and his fiancee, Megan Wollover, also just welcomed their first child last July.

Meanwhile, the truck driver that caused the accident, 35-year old Kevin Roper, has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.
