Nationwide — Supermodel Tyra Banks, 51, has moved to Australia with her partner, Louis Bélanger-Martin, and their 9-year-old son, York. She says the move was driven by her growing ice cream brand, SMiZE and Dream, which manufactures its products in Australia.
“We were making a lot of our ice cream there in this big facility, doing our recipes,” she said, according to People. “I just fell in love with it.”
She pointed out that the top three countries that eat the most ice cream are the U.S., New Zealand, and Australia. “So I was like, ‘I’m happy here and they love to eat some ice cream, so, are we going to do this family?’ And we did,” Banks said.
Banks is now preparing to open a 3,000-square-foot flagship store for SMiZE and Dream in Sydney.
In a video tour, Banks gave a peek into her daily routine in Sydney. She starts her mornings with coffee at home, then heads to Tumbalong Park — a favorite spot for her and her son. The park has water features and play areas that attract families from around the city.
She also visited Darling Harbour and talks about her plans for the ice cream store. She said, “Making ice cream has been a lifelong dream of mine and it’s all happening right here in Australia. This idea is a tribute to my mama Carolyn.”
She also shared her love for the Sydney Opera House, where she regularly watches live shows, and enjoyed a scenic ferry ride through Sydney Harbour at night.
“Australia has been a dream come true for me and my family,” she said.
