Nationwide — Tyrell Zimmerman, author of the #1 urban children’s book on the market, Carter: My Dream, My Reality, will be featured as a guest at Church Street Elementary School in Riverdale, GA (Greater Atlanta Area) on March 1, 2019 from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Tyrell is a former professional athlete, successful business consultant, serial entrepreneur, and financial expert (Morgan Stanley & Merrill Lynch). He has built his platform through his work with youth who are underserved and underprivileged. He has also been recognized nationally and locally for his work with at-risk youth and for being a mental health advocate. He has partnered with music industry giant, Hezekiah Walker Grammy recording artist and NFL’s Sean Weatherspoon, Atlanta Falcons 1st Round Draft Pick, and American actor Blair Underwood.

Tyrell’s book, Carter: My Dream, My Reality, is a great starting point for having guided discussions with your child that foster healing and recovery after they face traumatic experiences. Carter: My Dream, My Reality is centered around urban violence & trauma, childhood PTSD, and mental health in the Black community.

Through the book, Tyrell has launched the “Tyrell Zimmerman Mental Health & Wellness through Literacy Program”. Which is the only program like it in the country. You may ask why. Well here is why, The Tyrell Zimmerman Mental Health & Wellness through Literacy Program is designed to meet the Mental Health & Trauma needs of underserved children through literacy. Through a careful culturally sensitive lens, the program emphasizes work with specific groups where there is a lack of access to information, resources, education, funding, and care. The program is specifically structured to integrate current & former NFL Players as guest readers to the children who are enrolled in the program, to excite, to engage, and inspire them about literacy, under the careful supervision and instruction of educators and certified mental health professionals.

Tyrell and his NFL player friends will be signing copies of his book for students of Church Street Elementary School, taking photos, and reading to students in various classrooms throughout the day.

Award:
Tyrell Zimmerman will be honored by the City of Riverdale, GA by Mayor Dixon and Councilman, Kenny Ruffin with an official Proclamation from the city for his outstanding service to the youth and the community and for the “Tyrell Zimmerman Mental Health & Wellness through Literacy Program” which currently exist in Riverdale, Georgia.
