Nationwide — Will Smith is set to star alongside Jaafar Jackson in the upcoming action thriller Supermax, which will become Jaafar’s second major acting project after his breakout performance in the hit biopic Michael.
Jaafar, the nephew of the late music legend Michael Jackson, joined the cast alongside Smith, who will lead the movie as Rex. Robb will portray an FBI agent as the story follows two agents investigating a murder inside the world’s most secure prison.
According to People, production for Supermax is set to begin in mid-August, with the film scheduled to stream worldwide on Prime Video. Director David Gordon Green will helm the project, and the Amazon MGM Studios film will also star AnnaSophia Robb.
The movie is described as a fast-paced action thriller filled with unexpected twists. David Weil and David J. Rosen wrote the script and will serve as executive producers, while Smith and Adam Fishbach will produce through Smith’s production company, Westbrook.
Supermax marks Jaafar’s follow-up role after making his acting debut as his uncle, Michael Jackson, in Michael. The biopic became one of the biggest films of 2026, ranking among the top-grossing movies worldwide and in North America.
Before taking on the role, Jaafar said he never imagined becoming an actor until he auditioned to play the King of Pop. He was officially announced as the actor portraying Michael Jackson in January 2023.
