Women Seek to Reclaim Health and Wholeness During Wellness Summit With Brandi Harvey

NationwideAt the Well Conferences, Inc. and The City of Newark, Ras J. Baraka, Mayor, have teamed together to provide a stellar Women’s Wellness Summit to begin the New Year. The all-day event occurs Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The location is the Robert Treat Hotel, 50 Park Place, Newark, NJ 07102. Space is limited.

The event is aimed at helping women reclaim, renew, and reset their health and wellness agenda to begin 2020 right. Topics will tackle physical and mental health issues as well as body positivity, legal, and financial topics. Experts will offer real advice to place women on the path to better wellbeing. The keynote speaker is motivator Brandi Harvey, founder of BeyondHer and author of Breakthrough Sold Separately: Get Out of the Boat of Mediocrity and Walk on Water. A copy of the book is included free as part of the admission fee. There is an early bird rate of $99 until January 31, 2020. Afterward, the price is $139. Included are lunch, vendors, and music for a festive environment of sisterly camaraderie.

Expert speakers will provide plenaries in areas critical to empowering and educating women. Three practitioners will focus on mental and physical health issues. Dr. Michele Reed, a general physician, leads the Breakthrough to Physical Well-Being plenary, where attendees will learn the basics of preventive healthcare and how exercise, nutrition, and stressors can affect overall physical well-being. Highlighted will be the body’s warning signs that help prevent serious illnesses. Dr. Glenda Hodges, CEO of Still I Rise, offers the Breakthrough to Emotional Health session. Women will learn how to discover and identify the symptoms that lead to emotional health issues and understand how to manage emotions to maintain wellness. Dr. LaJoyce Brookshire, a Naturopathic Doctor, brings the Breakthrough to Healthy Habits segment that will teach women how to avoid the pitfalls of emotional eating while understanding when Mama is broken, the whole house is sick. Attendees learn to embrace self-care while maintaining the well-being of their entire village.

Additional workshops are included that offer a roadmap to real change. Linda Peavy, founder of the CulturedCurves.com blog, will bring Breakthrough to Body Positivity and provide insights that can lead to increased self-esteem. Linda will help women learn to love all of what they see in the mirror. Plus-size style and fashion tips will be provided. Norman Leslie, a Chartered Financial Consultant, brings the Breakthrough to Financial Freedom workshop, which offers advice on how to begin creating a budget and spending plan that lead to savings and security. Attendees will learn the steps needed to start creating wealth. Last but not least Karen Dennis, a renowned personal trainer, offers Breakthrough to Physical Fitness. She will keep the event flowing by providing fun movements between sessions. Attendees will also learn the simple steps needed to increase body flexibility and improve overall fitness. Ras J. Baraka, Mayor of Newark, will be present and representatives from the city will provide information on the water challenges in Newark. An update on drinking water conditions and continued plans to address the issue as well as water filter availability will be shared.

Special guest speakers will include and Jacqueline Glass-Campbell, CEO, At the Well Conferences, Inc. Our goal is to educate and provide inspiration that leads to significant health transformations.”

Providing tools that help to improve the health disparities that exist among communities of color and women in Newark is a focus of the Mayor’s Office.
