Rapper Young Jeezy Donates 2,500 Backpacks and Hundreds of School Supplies to Atlanta Kids

Young Jeezy Backpack and School Supplies Giveaway

Atlanta, GA — Jay Wayne Jenkins, better known as rapper Young Jeezy, recently hit the streets of Atlanta, Georgia for his annual Backpack Blessings Back-To-School Drive. Via his foundation, Street Dreamz Foundation, he donated 2,500 backpacks full of school supplies — which were distributed to various elementary schools in the Atlanta area.

Jeezy bought 1,000 of the backpacks himself, matching his total from a year ago. Rapper Lil Jon, who was also part of the give-away purchased an additional 1,000 backpacks. The remaining 500 were provided by sponsors of the event which included Shanti Das and her Hip Hop Professional Foundation, Hot 107.9 Atlanta, and Walmart.

Jeezy is no stranger to giving back. In 2014, he donated $1 Million dollars to the Jay Morrison Academy – an online school that gives people of any background a chance to learn about the real estate buisness. That money specifically went to a scholarship program that provides opportunities for all walks of life to learn about real estate investing.

In 2015, he planned and spearheaded a neighborhood clean-up of Atlanta’s District 4. Residents living in the area had their streets swept clean of trash and debris, and had their grass cut and weeds removed free of charge.

His work in the community has earned him the Phoenix Award from the city of Atlanta – the highest honor an individual or group can receive from the Mayor’s office.
