International Father and Families Practitioners Conference

Nationwide — The National Partnership for Community Leadership, alongside esteemed conference partners and sponsors such as the National Institute for Children’s Healthy Quality, Maximus Corporation, the United Planning Organization in Washington, D.C., The Mary Center, and Families Matter Inc. from Memphis, TN, is thrilled to announce the 27th Annual International Father and Family Practitioners Conference. This year’s inspiring theme is “Making A Difference for Generations to Come.”

Since its inception in 1998, the National Partnership for Community Leadership has been at the forefront of the International Fatherhood Conference (IFC), a groundbreaking event dedicated to responsible fatherhood. Through collaboration with a diverse array of public and private sector partners, this conference has become its longest-running, uniting thousands of participants, including political leaders, researchers, family service practitioners, parents, and youth. Over the years, it has spurred significant policy changes and innovative programs, illuminating pathways to hope and progress. The organizers eagerly anticipate continuing this impactful journey with your involvement.

The Children’s Defense Fund reveals that out of 74 million children in the U.S., 11 million face the challenges of poverty. Among the youngest, one in six children under five—3 million in total—are affected, marking the highest poverty rate of any age group. The pandemic has deepened the struggles of those already in hardship, with children from single-parent households disproportionately impacted and facing greater risks of crime, substance abuse, and school dropouts.

The National Center for Education Statistics underscores that children living in poverty are most prevalent among Black and American Indian/Alaska Native youth (34% each), followed by Hispanic children (28%), Pacific Islander children (23%), and those of two or more races (19%). In contrast, White and Asian children experience the lowest rates (11% each).

This year’s conference embodies a spirit of inspiration, offering robust solutions through presentations by over 40 speakers and workshop leaders. Kicking off on June 1 with a pre-conference will set the stage for enriching discussions. The main event on June 2-3 will feature Plenary Sessions on Innovative State Approaches to Fatherhood, Leveraging Community Partnerships, Charting Long-Term Success, and the highly acclaimed documentary, ‘Daughters,’ providing fresh insights into our challenges. Attendees will also enjoy ample networking opportunities, A Day on the Hill to build relationships with Congressional representatives, and celebratory occasions, including the annual Spirit of Fatherhood Hall of Fame Luncheon and a dinner honoring fathers nationwide.

All are invited to participate in this transformative conference, where your voice and contributions can truly make a difference. To learn more and secure your spot, please visit our website at www.npclfathersandfamilies.org/registration-whova
