Black Woman Curator Launches New Guide That Celebrates Black-Owned Luxury Beauty and Fragrance Brands

Her annual hardcover coffee table guide and companion directory are redefining how consumers discover and support Black-owned luxury beauty and fragrance

Karrin Kay Martin

Nationwide — Curator, author, and beauty industry tastemaker Karrin “Kay” Martin has officially launched All the Black-Owned, Babee! 2026 Edition: Beauty + Fragrance Guide, a luxury annual hardcover coffee table reference guide spotlighting Black- and African-owned brands across beauty and fragrance. Alongside the book, she has launched MrsBlackOwned.com, a companion directory designed as an ongoing, searchable resource that consumers can return to year-round.

Framed as a modern reimagining of the Green Book, All the Black-Owned, Babee! connects readers with Black- and African-owned beauty and fragrance brands, celebrating the founders, the culture, and the craft behind them. The 2026 Edition has already earned placements at Riverhead Free Library and Longwood Library on Long Island, New York, an early milestone that establishes the guide as a lasting reference resource for consumers and institutions alike.

“This guide exists because Black luxury is not a niche — it is a movement,” said Karrin. “I wanted to create something that sits on your coffee table, or lives in your pocket, that changes the way you shop, gift, and show up for Black- and African-owned brands. Not just once, but every single time.”

A U.S. Air Force veteran formally trained in cosmetology, makeup artistry, and aesthetics, she brings both professional authority and genuine community investment to her role as a cultural storyteller. Her work under the Beauty by Mrs. Black Owned brand — spanning publishing, content creation, and brand partnerships — has established her as a trusted voice for consumers seeking to align their purchasing power with their values.

The guide reflects her broader philosophy: that supporting Black- and African-owned businesses is not a trend, but a practice worth building rituals around.

“Black luxury is not hidden behind one gatekeeper, one website, or one zip code. It cannot be contained,” she comments. “Black luxury lives in Harlem. It’s Dapper Dan’s heartbeat. It echoes through Muse Harlem. It grows from trees in Zanzibar. It cloaks Atlanta. It shines in Los Angeles. It flows through Barbados. It illuminates the Seychelles. It chants across the African continent. And now that I’ve proven it exists — that it’s dope, that it’s ours, that it’s pushing culture forward — I’m passing the torch to you.”
