Independent Black Filmmakers Launch Bootcamp Teaching How to Produce a Streaming Series on a Guerilla Budget

Black filmmakers behind Sundays After Church drama series

Nationwide — The award-winning team behind the independent drama series Sundays After Church is inviting aspiring filmmakers, actors, writers, producers, and content creators behind the scenes with “How We Shot It: The Sundays After Church Guerrilla Film Bootcamp,” taking place Saturday, September 20, 2026, in Richmond, Virginia. For the first time, the bootcamp will also be available as a live online experience, allowing filmmakers from anywhere in the country to attend virtually and interact with the instructors.

Hosted by Amanda Delore, this one-day intensive provides an inside look at how the Sundays After Church team produced five episodes in just ten shooting days on a remarkably limited independent budget while building a distribution strategy that ultimately landed the series on Amazon, Apple TV, and IndieTube. Rather than focusing on theory, attendees will learn the practical production systems, scheduling methods, crew organization, budgeting strategies, and distribution roadmap used to take an independent television series from script to streaming platforms.

Participants will learn:

• Writing the Guerrilla Script
• How We Produced Five Episodes in Ten Days
• Pre-Production Planning & Directing
• Budget Cinematography & Lighting
• Assistant Director Workflow & Set Management
• Production Sound & Sound Design
• Independent Distribution: Getting Your Film on Amazon, Apple TV & Streaming Platforms
• Best Practices for Maximizing Production Value on a Limited Budget
• Live Q&A with the Sundays After Church Production Team

“Independent filmmaking has never been more accessible, but success requires a system,” said creator and Executive Producer Eric Brown. “This bootcamp is about showing filmmakers exactly how we planned, scheduled, shot five episodes in ten days, and navigated independent distribution to get our series onto Amazon and Apple TV. We want creators to leave with a blueprint they can immediately apply to their own productions.”

The event reflects the growing movement of independent filmmakers building sustainable careers through ownership, efficient production methods, and direct-to-audience distribution rather than waiting for traditional studio opportunities.

Featured Instructors:
• Eric Brown
• Ethan Evans
• Will Roye
• Jonathan Jamar
• Miles Hopkins

The bootcamp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with half-day, full-day, and virtual attendance options available.
