Baltimore, MD — During a recent right-wing Virginia-based Media Research Center’s annual black tie gala, the six Baltimore police officers that were previously charged in the death of Freddie Gray were celebrated. They received standing ovations while honorary speakers commended them for being good, innocent servants to the community.
The officers (two of whom are African American) were initially charged and indicted for his death, but this past July, prosecutors dropped all charges and they were acquitted. Borelli says that it was a disgrace that either of them was ever charged to begin with.

The crowd then erupted into cheers and applause as she called each officer to the stage and then said, “These five men and one woman, all veteran police officers, were now in handcuffs, fighting for their lives, their careers destroyed, bankrupted, humiliated.”
She continued, “No one apologized for ruining their lives. No one thanked them for their service or recognized their honor. Who will thank these officers? Who will thank all police officers … at a time they are being so vilified? Tonight, ladies and gentlemen, we will.” The crowd again gave the officers a standing ovation.
What kind of event was this?
The event was hosted by the Media Research Center, a politically conservative content analysis organization founded in 1987 and based in Reston, Virginia that prides itself on exposing “the propaganda arm of the Left: the national news media.” The organization’s founder, L. Brent Bozell, is backed by the well-known billionaire Mercer family, who are big donors and supporters of Donald Trump.
