Nationwide — Sandy’s Land LLC is an entertainment service where the mission is to “Party with a Purpose” to provide amusement and empowerment. Its 2022 Detroit Doll Show will include new and returning vendors and a power packed program to delight every child as well as the inner child of an adult. Attendees will experience a variety of vendors that include kid authors, surprise character visits, celebrity guests, African head wraps, black memorabilia, and black dolls. The event has moved to the Marygrove Conservancy to provide free parking, food trucks and comfort in the heart of the west side community on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 11am to 6pm.Program will include legacy award presentation to honor Dr. Khalid El-Hakim, Founder of Black History 101 Mobile Museum and Professor Yla Eason, Founder & President of Olmec Toys, Inc., (creator of Sun-Man, one of the first Black Action Figures); Food Trucks, DJ (Live Music), Arts & Crafts, Giant Games, Best Dressed Reborn Doll, Doll Look-Alike Contest, African Drumming and Fun Photos.
The Detroit Doll Show mission is to celebrate history, culture, diversity and self-love with the promotions of dolls of color. The Detroit Doll Show has been featured in the Michigan Citizen, WDIV – Live in the D, The Detroit News & Free Press, BLAC Magazine, The HUB Detroit, Metro Parent, American Black Journal/PBS, Rhythm and Praise with Dr. Deborah Smith Pollard on Mix 92.3 FM WMXD, “Small Talk with Mark Lee on WXYT 1270, Black America Web, Black Doll Collecting and Dolls Magazine. The event draws in attendees from around the globe of all ages. Cheryl Lynn Pope stated “Events like this change the narrative of how girls see themselves. To see the amazement in the eyes of the girls that attend the Detroit Doll Show is awe-inspiring…I have never missed a Doll Show…I’ve brought my daughter every year since its inception.”
