4th Annual Reentry Keys Summit Empowers Justice-Impacted Individuals to “Switch the Hustle”

Nationwide — Ronnie’s House, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, will host the 4th Annual Reentry Keys Summit and Resource Fair on June 27th and 28th, promising to be an inspiring and impactful event for all attendees.

Shirin Senegal, Executive Director of Ronnie’s House and organizer of the Summit, has turned her pain into purpose, dedicating her life to justice reform and reentry support. After losing her husband, Ronnie Senegal, to gun violence, Shirin channeled her grief into a mission to help others who have been justice-impacted. Ronnie, who was himself justice-impacted and represented himself in a three-strikes case, securing a hung jury, began working with youth and those impacted by the system before his death.

The Summit opens with the State of Reentry on June 27th, honoring Pastor Troy F. Vaughn, Co-Founder of LAARP, the largest and most impactful organization serving the reentry community. Pastor Vaughn has been a champion and leader in advancing policy and funding to support grassroots organizations.

Sam Lewis, Executive Director of ARC and a commissioner on the LA County Probation Oversight Commission, will be the keynote speaker on June 28 about the importance of credible messengers to decrease recidivism.

The Summit will highlight future trades, how to secure funding for entrepreneurship and education, legal rights, and will provide resources in housing, mental health services, and educational opportunities.

The Reentry Keys Summit is a vital platform for discussing reentry strategies, sharing resources, and honoring those who have made significant strides in supporting formerly incarcerated individuals. The event will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and networking opportunities to foster collaboration and innovation in the reentry field.
“I look forward to connecting with our community and fostering collaboration between nonprofits, probation, and those impacted by the system. It will take a village to decrease recidivism,” said Shirin.

Shirin Senegal’s work highlights the critical intersectionality of reentry, homelessness, and gun violence. In 2020, she spearheaded efforts to advance investment in reintegration during Long Beach’s 2020 Racial Reconciliation Initiative and has recently advanced inclusive hiring practices with the Equity and Human Relations Commission. She also led the launch of one of the first reentry resources websites and apps, ReentryKeys.com, which connects probation, nonprofits, and justice-impacted individuals to vital resources.

In 2025, the Reentry Keys Summit will expand to Atlanta, GA, in collaboration with Demmette Guidry, advocate for social justice and co-founder of the Black American Music Foundation (BAMF), who has worked for Sony, Warner Brothers, and Columbia Records and was instrumental in the success of top Platinum Recording Artists.

“Black music has been the backdrop of our lives, just as it was during the civil rights movement,” says Demmette Guidry. “It is time for it to be the backdrop of justice reform, carrying the responsibility to inspire and drive meaningful change.”
